Safer Space Guidelines

Luckan Integration is committed to following the guidelines for safer space. Our events, seminars, workshops and other actions are anti discriminatory, and we follow mutually found principles and guidelines to build safer spaces. These are our guidelines for building a safer space:

I. EQUAL SPACE

• In our events we aim to be physically and socially accessible.
• We take the participants’ special needs into consideration in advance.
• Zero tolerance for discrimination and hate speech.
• Secure, safe and comfortable space for everyone.
• We are committed to anti-racism, anti-sexism and anti-ableism.
• All our events have named contact persons whom participants can approach, give feedback or tell about discriminatory or other interference.

II. CHECKING YOUR ASSUMPTIONS

• We don’t make assumptions about each other based on gender, health, abilities or other stereotypes. If necessary, you can ask. For example, one could ask which gender pronoun each participant uses?
• We treat each other with respect and regard.
• We are norm-critical and open for feedback. We will adjust according to feedback.

III. CONSENSUALITY AND RIGHT TO BE YOURSELF

• We uphold everyone’s right to not participate as a basis for safety. We invite everyone to participate but give space also for everyone to decline.
• Everyone is met and treated as an individual.
• The participants have the right to express emotions with respect for others.
• Participants’ permission will be asked to collect data, take photos or to otherwise document the event.
