Peer Support Group for International Job Seekers

Our peer support group is designed to provide participants with accessible tools and essential skills for succeeding on the Finnish job market. It is offered twice a year, in both English and Russian.

How does the group work?

A group of ten participants meets on a weekly basis for a minimum of 8 sessions. There will be a facilitator in each session, and invited guests and experts will also share their knowledge and expertise relevant to the Finnish labor market, job hunting and recruitment. Participants will acquire new skills, build networks, and connect with others in a similar situation, all within a safe and supportive environment.

Who can join?

You can join if:

  • You can commit to attending all or most sessions
  • You have migrated to Finland
  • You live in the Capital Region (or have a possibility to attend in-person session at Luckan in Helsinki or at Grand in Porvoo)
  • You are currently registered as unemployed

What happens at the sessions?

The content of the sessions will be tailored to the specific interests and needs of the participants.
Key topics include:

  • Learning to use essential tools, such as CV, cover letter, and LinkedIn profile.
  • Sharing knowledge about the Finnish job market and working life.
  • Supporting the job hunting process and exploring job hunting together.
  • Exchanging experiences and getting support from peers in similar situations.

Feedback from our participants

I feel lucky for having been part of this peer support group because of many reasons. I had a supportive and helpful coach, amazing peers who unselfishly shared their insights and experience, I learned new things, got new perspective, connected with people.
