A Successful Open Living Room goes Birdwatching Event Despite the Chill

Published

We are thrilled to share that our Open Living Room goes birdwatching event that was held on 26.4 was a wonderful success, with an excellent turnout despite the chilly weather. The day was filled with excitement as participants enjoyed the opportunity to spot a stunning variety of bird species. In total, we identified 40 different birds, showcasing the incredible diversity of our local avian population. Some of the birds we spotted included the Hawfinch, Stonechat, Raven, Hooded Crow, and Sparrow. We also had the pleasure of observing Wagtails, Finches, Robins, Blackbirds, and Fieldfares, to name just a few. Other species spotted were Great Tit, Blue Tit, Starlings, Goldfinches, and Yellowhammers. Not to be missed, we also saw Whooper Swans, Grey-lag Geese, Barnacle Geese, Mallards, and a variety of ducks including Wigeon, Gadwall, Pintail, Teal, and Tufted Ducks. There were also sightings of Goldeneyes, Cormorants, and Grey Herons, as well as the majestic White-tailed Eagle. Additional species included Lapwings, Little Ringed Plovers, Black-tailed Godwits, Redshanks, and several types of gulls, including Black-headed, Common, Herring, and Black-backed Gulls. Finally, we spotted Greenwood Pigeons and the remarkable Great Spotted Woodpecker.

A special thank you to our birdwatching experts from the Finland-Nepal Friendship Association—Antero Tammisto, Jukka Saarinen, and Esa Teräväinen—for generously sharing their expert knowledge and passion for birdlife. We also want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the participants who made this event such a memorable and successful experience.

Stay tuned for more exciting events in the future—we look forward to seeing you there!
