On 22 January 2026, we welcomed our volunteers to a special mingle at Luckan, an evening dedicated to celebrating the people who generously give their time and knowledge to support our clients through mentorship and community activities.
The event brought together volunteers from Luckan Integration, including those involved in the JobBuddies Mentorship Program and the FIKA Mentorship Program. We were also joined by volunteers who lead our Swedish language cafés, held every Tuesday from 5:30–7:00 pm at Luckan and every Wednesday from 5:30–7:00 pm at Oodi Library.
Shared Experiences and Mutual Learning
Throughout the evening, volunteers shared reflections from their journeys, stories of growth, connection, and learning that have developed over the years. Many spoke about what they have learned from the diverse cultures of our clients, as well as the challenges they have overcome together. From navigating working life in Finland to building confidence through language and conversation, these experiences highlighted the powerful impact of collaboration and mutual respect.
Looking to the Future of Volunteer Work
The discussion also turned toward the future. Together, we explored how volunteer work can continue to grow and evolve, and we reflected on the question:
“If you could broaden volunteer work, what would you add?”
The conversation sparked thoughtful ideas and meaningful dialogue, showing just how engaged and forward-thinking our volunteer community is.
We’d love to hear from you too!
What are your thoughts on the future of volunteer work? Share your ideas in the comments on our Instagram post here.
A big thank you to all our volunteers for your dedication, openness, and continued commitment, you truly make a difference.
