Luckan Integration together with SFP i Helsingfors and Svenska Bildningsförbundet and in collaboration with Suomi-Nepal-seura ry and Turku Nepal Association ry, organised a Friendly Multicultural football tournament last week 20th of August in Munkkiniemi.

The tournament was held as a 7- aside tournament and between 6 teams. The event attracted about 90 people from various walks of life. The event ended with a nice picnic with some delicious asian delicacies. Thank you everyone for making this happen!

Undoubtedly the sport has been recognized as a popular and one of the most appropriate tools for social integration in civil society as well as on a political level. Numerous declarations on the national and international level, national and international “action plans”, numerous projects and programmes can be listed in this regard. And the challenge of improving the efforts to use sports in this manner seem to have become even more important. Integration of ethnic minorities has become one of the most demanding socio-political challenges in our European societies. The quantitative relation between native citizens and foreigners changed dramatically with sports and especially with  football. The potential of this sport to contribute to the process of social integration seems to no longer be a questionable matter anymore.
