How much garbage do you think you can find in quite clean surroundings? Surprisingly much!
As part of World Cleanup Day on 20th September, Luckan joined forces with partner organizations Sustainability Community Finland, Zero Waste Finland, and Helsinki Climate Hub. Together, we brought around 40 volunteers together to clean the Matinkylä beach area.
A crowd of people from different countries, children, and even a pet dog came together. Beyond the clean-up itself, the activity was a wonderful opportunity to build new connections.

We had some worries about the weather forecast and the amount of litter. Would there be enough litter for everyone to feel that their efforts were making a difference? But in the end, we nailed it! And the weather was on our side too!
The beautiful day was made even more enjoyable with warm cups of coffee and tea, along with freshly baked buns shared after the clean-up.

Feedback on the spot: “I found the event very uplifting and perfectly organized. I would suggest maybe going to places that may have more trash next time, but otherwise, 10/10!”
Thank you, everyone, for taking an active part and contributing to making the day such a success!
