When you are pregnant you have the right to maternity and child health guidance. The guidance is provided by public healthcare. It is recommended that you contact the maternity clinic when a pregnancy test gives a positive result. The maternity clinic will guide you through the pregnancy. Attending maternity clinic is one of the conditions for eligibility for maternity allowance. After the child has been born, the child health clinics assesses the child’s development until school starts.

In Helsingfors/Helsinki can you freely choose where you want to go. Maternity care in Swedish is offered in Berghäll , Nordsjö, Kampen, Munksnäs, Kvarnbäcken and Femkanten.
In Helsingfors/Helsinki the Swedish healthcare and social care service is centralised to Berghäll/Kallio to Berghälls familjecenter. If your family needs some extra help because you are overwhelmed or exhausted, please be in touch with Home service for families with children.

In Esbo/Espoo you will find Swedish-language maternity and child clinics at Iso Omena and in Hagalund/Tapiola.
Vanda
Vantaa/Vanda hasn’t centralized their Swedish healthcare services but maternity care in Swedish works well. Dickusby/Tikkurila has one Swedish-speaking healthcare provider. More may be available. Please ask when you contact your maternity clinic.
Every child born in Vanda 2023 or after are invited to become a Vantaa Culture Kid. Those enrolled as culture kids will get invitations to free-of-charge events until they begin school. Vanda has a culture producer in charge of the program for the Swedish-speaking children.
